Fantastec, a Finnish developer of award-winning educational children’s games, has closed a seed investment round of 800 000 USD to boost the development of multiplatform games. Fantastec has also signed co-operation partnerships with major publisher and media companies.
The investors include Booster Investment and angel investors from Finland. The funding is used for recruitments as well as international operations. Fantastec has also partnered with Fingerprint, a global mobile technology company that operates Fingerprint Play in the US and dedicated mobile networks for leading companies like Samsung, Sylvan Learning Center and Astro Digital. “We are thrilled to partner with Fantastec on the Wonder Bunny line of educational games and provide new distribution channels to learning-focused consumers around the world”, says Nancy MacIntyre, Founder and CEO of Fingerprint.
Play and Learn – Kids teach their virtual Superheroes
Fantastec aims to revolutionize the way kids learn by combining fun games and learning - which both are strong areas of the Finns. “We want to create visually beautiful, fun and easy to use games which inspire children to learn. If children love what they are doing then fantastic learning results will be achieved – and kids love games”, Fantastec CEO and former teacher, Juha Väisänen says.
Fantastec develops multiplatform educational kids’ games for online and mobile platforms. Online game world Polar Heroes is like Disney’s successful Club Penguin but with educational adventures. Mobile games are published under Wonder Bunny brand and include Math Race, ABC Race and trivia game Animal Friends. In Fantastec games kids help their superhero characters to grow and learn new skills. The motivation comes from gaining fun super powers, nurturing lovable pets and riding wacky vehicles like a flying rocket-powered sledge. While helping their game characters learn, kids themselves learn math, reading, general knowledge and much more, all within a safe environment.
Learning content markets grow rapidly
According to several studies, game-based learning is the most effective way to learn for kids. Both games and e-learning are already +50 Billion markets and growing 30-50% per year. Schools and families are demanding yet thankful markets: parents want better content for their loved ones and they have strong natural motive to invest in their kids’ development.
