Evolving Oulu offers an innovative seedbed
Learned people lived in Oulu already 400 years ago. In the beginning of 17th century, locals were studying logic from Latin school books. Now there are more than 200,000 residents in Oulu with educational opportunities that are, also internationally, extensive and of high quality. More than 30,000 students study in higher and secondary education establishments, but this is our pride and joy: more than 90% of us in the 15 to 54-year-old category hold a university degree or upper secondary level diploma.
Targeting at 300 MEUR private real investments
Oulu is aiming at 300 million euros annual private real investments. The aim has been promoted by e.g. investing into an underground parking space. New opportunities will be created in future by developing the area surrounding the railway station, the city centre marketplace on the seafront and Nallikari Resort.
Oulu’s market square receives a 5,000 square meter international game campus
Fingersoft, known for their Hill Climb Racing mobile game and cooperation with different game companies, has established a game campus block in The Capital of Northern Scandinavia Oulu city center, at Aleksanterinkatu 4-6. Formerly belonging to the architectural guild, the premises were transferred to Fingersoft and Rakennusteho Group Oy last October. In what is globally a unique solution, and with private equity, an agile hub of game companies was born in the center of a city of technology.
