Instructions for job seekers
This page has compiled useful instructions and forms related to services for job seekers.

Register as a jobseeker in the Job Market Finland Asiointi (E‑services) if you become unemployed, are laid off, or if your studies end and you do not have full-time employment. You have to register as a job seeker to receive unemployment security no later than your first day of unemployment. If needed, you can get help using Job Market Finland through the E‑services guidance service.
If you are unable to use online services visit BusinessAsema. There you can also register as a jobseeker by using an electronic form.
Once your job search begins, you will be assigned a personal coach who will provide you with individual guidance. The coach will assess your situation and work with you to plan a personalized path towards employment, education, or other services that support your goals. Our aim is to provide individualized guidance.
Health checks for the unemployed
If you are unemployed, you are entitled to a free health check at a nurse’s office. The purpose of these check-ups is to assess and strengthen your state of health, well-being, and ability to work and function.

Unemployment benefit is designed to compensate you for the financial losses you suffer as a result of unemployment. You can only get unemployment benefit, or unemployment insurance, if you are registered as an unemployed job seeker. You can register, for example, using the Job Market Finland’s E-services or by visiting BusinessAsema.
The different forms of unemployment benefit include earnings-related daily allowance and general social security benefit.
The Joint Association of Unemployment Funds in Finland comprises 14 unemployment funds, which pay their members earnings-related unemployment benefit (earnings-related daily allowance) during unemployment. If you are not a member of an unemployment fund, you can apply for unemployment benefit from Kela.
-
Because unemployment benefit is a reciprocal benefit, you have rights as well as obligations as an unemployed job seeker. Unemployed job seekers include not only job seekers who are out of work, but also, for example, those who are laid off or inactive. You can read more about the rights and obligations of an unemployed job seeker on Job Market Finland.
