Tourism

Oulu is a year-round tourist city, with almost 60% of its visitors being leisure tourists. Oulu is also the centre of the North, with year-round air and rail connections and accommodation capacity benefiting the whole of Northern Finland.

Oulu’s urban strategy aims to reach one million tourist nights by 2027. In particular, the aim is to increase international tourism by strengthening content and investing in attraction projects and services in a responsible and knowledge-led way. The regenerating Nallikari, investments in the market area and the city centre, as well as the station area and the experience arena are the main targets.

  • Event organisers and service providers can take advantage of the services offered by Oulu Tourist Information in their event communications and company marketing.

    Digital Display

Tourist Information has a digital display showcasing slides and videos from event organisers featuring current events and tourism services in Oulu.

    • The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, landscape format.
    • Materials for the digital display should be sent by email in PNG or JPG format to matkailuneuvoja@ouka.fi.
    • Please include the name of the event or service, date, location, and ticket or product prices on the slide. Remember to use an engaging image as an eye-catcher.
    • Materials will be displayed for two weeks at a time. Event slides are added to the display approximately two weeks before the event, and materials should not be submitted earlier than that.
    • The recommended maximum length for videos is 15 seconds. The file format should be MP4.

    Brochures and Maps

    • Event organisers can also order and collect maps and tourism brochures from Oulu Tourist Information to distribute to event participants.
    • Providing maps and brochures is an excellent way to highlight Oulu’s diverse leisure and tourism offerings and helps visitors make the most of their time during their stay in Oulu.
    • Explore the maps online.
    • Use the Oulu Guide on your mobile phone.

Pop-up Opportunity at the Oulu Tourist Information Lounge

    • Located next to Oulu Tourist Information in the Market Hall, Oulu Shop offers local entrepreneurs a free pop-up opportunity in its Lounge space. The space can be used to present and sell products on a short-term basis – for part of a day, a full day, or two days.
    • The pop-up setup includes space for one table and a roll-up banner. The seller must provide their own payment terminal.
    • The pop-up opportunity is free of charge.
    • Entrepreneurs interested in the pop-up opportunity can contact us by email at roosa.palomaki@businessoulu.com. Please include the company name, a short description of the business and products for sale, and the preferred timeframe for the pop-up. We will respond within 2–3 business days.

Please also remember to add your recurring service (such as tours) or event to the City of Oulu’s event calendar at tapahtumat.munoulu.fi.

More information on organising events is available in the City of Oulu’s Event Organiser’s Guide.
