SCUBA – Sport, Culture and Business in the Arctic

The overall objective of the Interreg Aurora funded project SCUBA overall is to build a more attractive and resilient Aurora programme area by creating a joint cross-border sports and culture event ecosystem. By the end of the project, partners will have shared SCUBA strategies, tested cross-border SCUBA arenas and established active SME, youth and female networks that increase competence, cooperation and visibility.

The project will deliver measurable improvements in event planning and collaboration, stronger SME involvement and new cross-border event concepts that can continue after the project. It aims to enrich community life through improved sports culture business events, generate company participation and new partnerships, and strengthen skills through links to Oulu2026 EU Capital of Culture, EU Capital of Culture Kiruna 2029 and EU Youth Capital Tromsø 2026. Youth and women take defined roles in planning and delivering events, supporting long-term inclusion and regional attractiveness.
