About the Project
During spring 2026, the Datasta resilienssiä (DARE) preparatory project will examine how data economy–related objectives are being implemented in Finland’s six largest cities. The project aims to form a shared overall view of how cities can jointly strengthen the growth base of Finland’s data economy, create new business opportunities, and improve societal resilience through the use of data.
The main objective of the preparatory project is to produce a comprehensive situational overview of how the largest Finnish cities support, utilize, and govern the data economy. Based on this overview, the project will prepare an implementation plan for a joint project that addresses the identified development areas and challenges and serves as a nationally led flagship initiative.
Why it matters
Finland’s largest cities have a significant role in supporting the growth of the data economy. By creating a shared understanding of how data economy goals are being realized across cities, the DARE preparatory project helps strengthen collaboration and coordination at the national level. A common situational overview enables cities to identify shared development needs and challenges and to work together to enhance data-driven growth, support the creation of new business opportunities, and improve societal resilience and crisis preparedness through the effective use of data.
