Oulu Investor Day is an event which brings VC investors, business angels and Oulu-based companies together right before the Arctic pitching event Polar Bear Pitching. With interesting VC presentations and one-to-one –meetings with companies and investors the event is a top place for networking, and valuable contact point for Oulu-based companies to meet VCs and business angels from Finland and abroad.

Eeswaran Navaratnam is Managing partner at 01Ventures; a VC fund based in London investing in European early stage companies developing deep technological solutions. 01Ventures is also an active investor, where leading experts work very closely with their portfolio on commercialising and scaling their product via their Startup Studio. 01Ventures has also invested in Oulu-based company Valossa Labs Ltd.

Henry Ines, Draper Dragon Fund

Henry is an international executive with 17+ years of venture capital, cross border advisory, corporate finance, and management consulting experiences. Henry currently serves as a venture partner at Draper Dragon Fund, a leading venture capital firm based in Silicon Valley, where he focuses on early stage frontier technology investments to include FinTech, AI / ML, VR / AR, internet & mobile and sustainable technologies.

Jari Mieskonen, Conor Venture Partners 

With almost two decades of experience in technology financing, Jari has seen the ups and downs of the industry many times over. His ability to put things in perspective helps entrepreneurs understand the undercurrent and maintain focus on the essential. Prior to Conor, Jari worked as Founding Partner at Eqvitec Partners, a Finnish venture capital company, and as Investment Director in charge of seed and early stage investments at Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund. He has served as a board member in several early stage venture funds and numerous start-up companies. Jari is now most actively involved with Crystalsol and TactoTek.

Jonathan Hirshon, Horizon Communications 

Jonathan is known as the “Guru of Silicon Valley” and has exclusively focused on high-tech PR for three decades. He has extensive corporate and agency PR experience as well as a history of orchestrating a wide range of successful global public relations. Jonathan is a business angel and has invested in Oulu-based company Valossa Labs Ltd.

Juha Ruohonen, Superhero Capital

Juha is currently helping Nordic tech companies to enter the global markets. As of December 2015, Superhero Capital launched a new seed-phase VC fund investing in b-to-b start-ups in Finland and nearby areas. Before Juha has been involved with several high-growth, VC -funded startups aiming for global markets. Companies include Supponor, Eniram, HyperIn, Upstream Engineering and Epicrystals. Total capitalization of the companies exceeds 20 M€.

Kirk Ludwick, Angelus Funding 

Kirk Ludwick has over thirty years of practice as a business transactional attorney in the United States based in Denver Colorado. His clients are located in the United States as well as in foreign countries. He is also counsel for and a member investor in Angelus Funding, a trust-based global network of angel investors, who evaluate a wide range of innovative investment opportunities. His practice is focused on entity formation, corporate and compliance matters, developing business strategies, negotiating and consummating business mergers and acquisitions, and structuring business debt and equity financing transactions. His business and legal counsel is in many diverse industries such as software, healthcare, waste and recycling, manufacturing, transportation, retail and hospitality, distribution and real estate. Kirk’s clients range from start-up companies, to mid-size entities to Fortune 200 companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. In addition to his professional degrees, Kirk’s experience comes from working with business incubators and entrepreneur communities, serving on many profit and non-profit company board of directors and civic and community business-related board of directors.

Lasse Lehtinen, Icebreaker VC

Lasse is CEO and Partner in Icebreaker VC. Ten years ago he got the opportunity to join Roottori, a very small Helsinki-based startup at that time. It ended up becoming the 2nd fastest growing Finnish tech company in '07 and '08, and then got acquired by Fonecta. Since that Lasse has been curious about tech and how it changes the world. Before Icebreaker, he was the CEO & Founder at Frontier Accelerator where he invested in Finnish and Swedish startups.

Lauri Kokkila, Inventure 

Lauri is Dealflow Manager at Inventure, where he focuses on new dealflow and supporting Umbra, which is the leading 3D solution for AEC and gaming. Earlier, Lauri has been working with digital solutions in the construction and real estate industry. Over the past 12 years Inventure has been working with some of the best entrepreneurs in Finland, the Nordics and the Baltics, supporting innovative start-ups and high tech companies including Wolt, Aimotive, KNL Networks, Rightware and Freespee. In December, Inventure announced the first close of Inventure Fund III competed at €110 million, making it the largest early-stage technology fund ever raised in Finland. The increase in the fund size provides Inventure with an additional capacity to lead investments not only at early stage, but all the way through expansion. Richard Allan Horning, ReedSmith

Richard Allan Horning practices law at Reed Smith in Palo Alto, California. He specializes in counseling high technology and e-commerce companies in all stages of development, from start-up to Fortune 50, with particular emphasis on funding transactions, intellectual property protection, licensing, contract and antitrust issues. He also has substantial experience in representing high technology companies in litigation and arbitration matters, in both international and domestic venues. Mr. Horning is Past President of the International Technology Law Association [f/k/a Computer Law Association], and formerly served on the Executive Committee of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of California. He serves on the Advisory Board's of BNA Electronic Information & Policy Law Reporter, Center for Intellectual Property [Gothenburg, Sweden] and the International Institute of Innovation Journalism [Stanford]. He is a frequent speaker at industry and legal conferences, and has authored numerous articles on Internet law, arbitration and technology law. He is an Business Angel, President and Chairman of Silicon Vikings.

Riku Seppälä, Icebreaker VC

Riku is a partner in Icebreaker VC. He has founded two companies in the developer tools space, making development easier. He has taken part in over 30 different types of funding rounds on different sides of the table. Working with new technologies and great people gets him excited.

Stephan Reckie, Angelus Funding 

Stephan is the Co-founder and CEO of Angelus Funding, a trust-based global network of angel investors, who actively evaluate a wide range of innovative investment opportunities. Stephan serves on the board of directors of several companies and has personally made over 37 investments since 2012. Stephan is also the Co-founder of Edge of Space, a company focused on exciting space based projects including developing space STEM based educational kits for students around the world.

Tommi Uhari, Karma VC

Tommi is Founding partner at karma.vc, founder and board member at Uros. Previously he was a high-tech executive at Nokia, ST-Microelectronics and ST-Ericsson. Tommi is a global technology networker, angel investor and board member in tech companies.
