Thursday was the hottest day of all time in Oulu as well, reports the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Its instruments at Oulunsalo Airport recorded a temperature of 33 ºC, breaking the previous record of 32.8 ºC in 1970.

Thursday afternoon broke temperature records in Finland. The instruments of the Finnish Meteorological Institute in Liperi soared to 37.2 ºC. The previous record had remained unbroken for almost one hundred years; 35.9 ºC was recorded in Turku in 1914.
