The electrical utility Oulun Seudun Sähkö, which operates mainly in the south and east municipalities of the City of Oulu, has donated EUR 50,000 to the Oulu University Trust Fund.

“Oulun Seudun Sähkö wishes to be involved in ensuring there are adequate financial resources for the university in the future,' states CEO Risto Kantola from Oulun Seudun Sähkö.

He hopes that there would be scope for increasing the teaching and research of energy technologies at the University of Oulu. A good foundation for this will be the investment ventures in wind power, bioenergy and nuclear power planned for Northern Finland totalling EUR 5-10 billion.

In Risto Kantola’s view, the University of Oulu will play a key role in the development and success of the Oulu area.
