Oulu Innovation Alliance

The Oulu Innovation Alliance is a strategic alliance formed between the City of Oulu, University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Technopolis in 2009. The purpose of the alliance is to carry on Oulu's long tradition in co-operation between education and research institutes, companies and the public sector. Oulu’s high-tech image was built on this co-operation in the 1980s.

The ultimate target of the Oulu Innovation Alliance agreement is to maintain Oulu's position as an internationally acknowledged centre for innovation. The founding partners have committed themselves to focusing on the agreed innovation areas, investing in the agreed infrastructures and creating and developing mechanisms for joint use. The agreed focus areas are Internet research (CIE), printed electronics (PrintoCent), and international business (MAIGBE).
