Operational environment development

BusinessOulu's tasks include anticipating new business opportunities and the related cluster development, supporting businesses relocating in the region, and promoting entrepreneurship and the employment of young people who have completed their education in the region.

We produce analysed monitoring and forecasting data about the development of the labour market, businesses and industries in the new Oulu, as well as about changes in industries and the business environment.

We seek new business opportunities and identify needs in the operating environment. Based on identified opportunities and needs, we initiate projects within our centre of excellence clusters of Ubiquitos Computing, Nano, HealthBio and Cleantech.

We participate in the development of land-use and city planning for business purposes in co-operation with the Oulu City Technical Centre. Our Relocation Service helps businesses relocating to or starting in the region to utilise the possibilities available in new Oulu.

We promote the creation of new jobs and help potential employees and jobs meet. We support entrepreneurship as one form of employment and lower the threshold of entrepreneurship, particularly for young people. We contribute to the local industries' development and especially the employment of young people who have completed their education in the region.
